In addition, Toronto Harbourfront Centre has a fabulous outdoor concert facility that seats 1,500 under the glass roof with another 3,000 seated outdoors at the water’s edge. Toronto Harbourfront Centre features Harbourfront’s music programme, which offers music every weekend from Canada Day to Labour Day.
The Toronto Harbourfront Reading Series is one of the most admired public reading programmes in the world. Over 4,000 of the world’s most distinguished authors have read at Toronto Harbourfront Centre including 13 Nobel Laureates. The Toronto Harbourfront Centre Series showcases contemporary international novelists, poets, playwrights, short story writers & biographers.
Toronto Harborfront is also the home to the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery. This Toronto Harbourfront public art gallery is devoted solely to the exhibition & interpretation of contemporary art in all media, with an emphasis on sculpture, painting & installation. Exhibits at Toronto Harbourfront Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery include work by artists from across the country & abroad with a strong commitment to the work of Toronto artists.
The Toronto Island Ferry operates frequent service from Mainland Ferry Terminal at Toronto Harborfront, to the landing at Hanlan's Point, Centre Island & Ward's Island ferry docks on the Toronto Islands. The Toronto Harborfront Terminal is located at the intersection of Bay Street & Queen's Quay West, just a few blocks from Union Station along the waterfront. The trip from Toronto Harbourfront to each island dock is about 15 minutes, with ferry departure times varying depending on the destination. Scenic cruises of the harbour also originate from Toronto Harbourfront.
Fabulous green spaces can be found at Toronto harbourfront, most notably the Toronto Music Garden. Inspired by the music of J.S. Bach, these park gardens at Toronto Harbourfront were interpreted by cellist Yo-Yo Ma & garden designer Julie Moir Messervy. The Spadina Quay Wetland, a natural park & the first wetland on the north shore of the harbour in ninety years is an integral part of Toronto Harbourfront.
